Not FoundThis is the bit we used to pre-drill holes the shelf for the screws.
Not FoundAt this point, it is a good idea to look at the wall where you are going to mount the shelf to find out if the studs are 16 inches or 24 inches apart. You will want the screws holding the corbels to the wall to be attached to a stud, if possible.
If the studs are 16 inches apart, you want the distance between the center of the corbels to be a multiple of 16 inches (16, 32, 48, etc.).
Position the corbel on the board to make your marks, and drill the holes.

Not FoundHold the corbel firmly while you drive the screw firmly through the shelf into the corbel.
Not FoundDo this on the other side of the shelf, so both corbels are attached. This is now a functional shelf. There is one problem; you have four unsightly screw-holes on the top of it.
Not FoundThis problem can be solved with wood plugs.
Not FoundWe make our own with this special drill bit, although you can purchase the plugs as well.
Not FoundPour some glue in the screw-hole,
Not Foundplace the wood plug in the hole,
Not Foundand pound it in gently.
Not FoundDo this on all four holes.
Not FoundWe used an aggressive belt sander to sand off the tops of the plugs.
Not FoundTo make the shelf even better, consider adding molding to the front. Cut it to length, and pre-drill holes for the finishing nails about 8 inches apart.
Not FoundSpread a bead of glue across the front of your board, and place the molding on top.
Not FoundDrive finishing nails into the holes.
Not FoundThe hammer will get it in the hole, but you need a \"nail set\" to push the nail below the surface.
Not Foundlet it dry, and sand it off
Not FoundYour shelf now complete. You can finish or paint it, and mount it on a wall! This shelf was made with Milan Classic Corbels, a member of our Wood Corbels line.
